I also ordered some NVS Sherine and NVS Amour from JBA seed potatoes. These are special show varieties which JBA have sponsored and brought back to make available.
I couldn't wait once I got home and as soon as the kitchen was cleared from the dinner things, I took it over and begun to prepare the potatoes.
Each potato was washed under a running tap to remove all dirt and any disease which may be present. They are then dried in paper towel and stood on more paper towel to dry off some more. Once they were dry, I then stood them in a tray ready to chit. I then put them in the potting shed, in plenty of light, to ensure they don't get too carried away. I will now keep an eye on the weather and if there is any danger of frost, I will cover with fleece.

Looks good although to be honest and being totally new to all this I had to look up what 'chitting' was - google is of course your best friend.
ReplyDeleteDue to space I will be attempting to grow potatoes in bags so hopefully it will work out.
