Happy at Home

It has certainly made a difference this having a decent greenhouse. All the things I have brought on at home are doing very well and are on track.

My Ramco Cabbage have now been staked up in order to keep the leaves upright. The patch on the allotment has been prepared and fertiliser added, ready to be planted out in a week or two.

My celery is also on track. It is the first year I am attempting to do celery properly after having half a go last year just on the allotment. This year I will be growing them at home in a raised bed. I have now also staked them with supporting clips to keep them upright.

I am so pleased with my onions after my dreadful past with them. Again, having the greenhouse has made a real difference. Once the temperature rose, they have really gone from strength to strength. Whether or not they are exhibition quality, I'm not so sure but so far they look the strongest best plants I have ever grown.

The long Carrots for the Southern National are on track and doing well. They all now have at least two true leaves and some have a third. It is just a case now of keeping them moist.

My second batch for the later shows are also coming on well. I had only one miss out of 30 stations, where I didn't have any misses for 1st batch.

The shorts have really taken off. The collars have now been removed and are doing really well.

The second batch for later shows have all come up with no misses. They will hopefully be ready to thin out in a week or two.

  1. All looking fantastic mate, wish my Ramco were like that, they are looking a bit sorry for themselves but hoping they spurt into life soon. I'm happy with my carrots now after a slow start, the second true leaf has come through, hopefully they'll all come good by the New Forest show.
